George Alayon

Assistant Director, Supervision (Insurance)

George Alayon is Assistant Director, Supervision (Insurance) at the Bermuda Monetary Authority. He has over 15 years’ experience working in the financial services industry, including 12 of those in Bermuda.

In his role at the Authority, George assists in leading the Innovation Working Group (IWG), an internal think tank responsible for various work streams advancing the Authority’s innovative insurer strategies. He also assists with reviewing licence applications for the Insurance Regulatory Sandbox and Innovation Hub, as well as supervising innovative insurers and intermediaries.

George joined the BMA in 2015. Prior to that, he worked as Assistant Vice President and Senior Account Manager at CTC Insurance Management Bermuda for five years and Senior Portfolio Accountant at Caceis (Bermuda) Limited for three years.

George is a Certified Public Accountant (Philippines) and a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter. In addition, he holds designations and certifications in various areas, including cyber risk management and internal audit, as well as in emerging areas such as insurance data analytics, Blockchain/Distributed Ledger technology and smart contract programming.
