Chief Security Officer BitGo Inc
Tom Pageler serves as Chief Security Officer (CSO) at BitGo. This is a critical role as BitGo was created to build institutional-grade security for digital currencies and security is the company’s most fundamental, core competency.
Tom has 20 years of experience in security and risk management. Prior to joining BitGo, Tom served in numerous corporate security roles. He was CSO and Chief Risk Officer (CRO) at Neustar, Inc., CRO and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at DocuSign, and Deputy CISO for JPMorgan Chase, and Head of Risk Assessments and Director of Emerging Risk and Fraud Control for Visa. While at Visa he helped to launch the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) and remained on The PCI SSC Board of Advisors during his time at JPMorgan Chase.
Tom began his career in government services where he served as a Special Agent with the U.S. Secret Service where he was one of the founding members of the San Francisco Electronic Crimes Task Force and was responsible for identifying, apprehending, and successfully extraditing leaders of a large organized crime ring in the Eastern Bloc. Tom also provided physical security for the President of the United States, the Vice President, their families, and foreign heads of state.
Tom holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Arizona Eller School of Business, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Thunderbird School of Global Management, and a Master in Public Administration (MPA) from Harvard University Kennedy School of Government. Tom is also an instructor and serves as a Member of the Advisory Board for Carnegie Mellon’s CRO and CISO-Executive Education and Certification Programs.
