George Thomas is a senior advisor in the firm’s Advisory practice. His expertise includes cybersecurity and data management consulting, corporate governance, financial & programme management, and operations improvement.
George combines strategy, technology and management consulting skills to help organizations succeed, with an understanding of how business works and a knowledge of how the right technology in the right place can create competitive advantage.
He has over 25 years of business leadership in investment banking, asset management, technology, commercial banking, and internal audit. He has worked at leading financial services organisations in Bermuda; New York and Boston in the US; and Tokyo, Japan. His global experience enables him to deliver value to organizations, focused on the key industries in Bermuda, including Government & Public Sector, Asset and Wealth Management and, Banking and Capital Markets.
Additionally, George is a founder of the #CyberAvengers, a group of professionals dedicated to promoting awareness on important cyber issues. He is a co-author of the series of books, The #CyberAvengers Playbook, and has a keen interest in real world implementations of next generation technologies including: blockchain, quantum computing, machine learning and artificial intelligence. He delivered a guest lecture to a securities law class at Harvard Law School a few weeks after the Equifax breach became public. In 2015, he successfully completed the MITProfessionalX Certificate for Cybersecurity: Technology, Application and Policy.
George holds a STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) Certificate in International Trust Management and currently serves, or has served, as an independent director and committee member on a number of boards of companies, organisations and tech startups.
George earned a B.A. in Economics from Duke University and an M.B.A. in Finance and Quantitative Methods from the UNC at Chapel Hil
